Methodology

The methods used in the LRDI are based on general consultant practice – form an agreement, conduct investigations, make proper interpretations, prepare a report of findings and recommendations, and assist as needed with implementation of the results. The basic process was developed during the Edmund Storms pilot project

The procedure is shown as a diagram in the figure below. When initial contact is made with a candidate, communications are established, the objectives and procedure are reviewed, participation is encouraged, and arrangements are made for a site visit. When an investigator agrees to participate, a project is set up under the LRDI umbrella. Site visits to the participants were found to be necessary for projects undertaken with individuals to gather information and conduct interviews.

This project procedure is based on preceding project management experience for protecting the environment and cleaning up legacy leaks and disposal sites (see About).
