Dr. Mahadeva Srinivasan was a nuclear scientist at India’s the principal lab for nuclear investigations, the Bhabba Atomic Research Center (BARC), when Fleischmann and Pons made their LENR announcement in 1989. The BARC director at the time, Dr. P.K. Iyengar, was favorably disposed to LENR and asked Dr. Srinivasan (who had worked at BARC for 22 years) to coordinate a large research effort consisting of most of the prominent labs at the Center. The BARC LENR research team then became the largest in the world for a time in the early years of the field. Dr. Srinivasan authored or co-authored some 45 papers and other works and attended the LENR conferences and other events, thus becoming prominent in the LENR field.

The Srinivasan LENR Research Documentation Project began during discussions between Dr. Srinivasan and Dr. Thomas Grimshaw at the 18th International Conference on Cold Fusion (ICCF-18) in June 2018. The project’s major components were a complete collection of Dr. Srinivasan’s publications and a recorded and transcribed interview that took place in September 2019. This interview was supplemented with earlier ones by Marianne Macy in 2011 and by Russ George in 1999.
A major accomplishment of the Project was a timeline of his LENR work prepared by Dr. Srinivasan. The six phases of the timeline are listed below and are described in more detail in an article in the Journal for Condensed Matter Nuclear Science (click here.)

Dr. Srinivasan stated that BARC had made several major contributions to the LENR field:
- First to observe and publish the neutron to tritium ratio anomaly
- First and possibly only group to carry out a statistical analysis of neutron emissions
- First to use auto radiography as a powerful investigative tool.
He noted that these observations lead to the suggestion that micro-nuclear explosions could be occurring in LENR.
